Songs and rhymes for a bilingual child from Jbrary

It has been around two years now that I am subscribed to a Youtube channel called Jbrary. They are two Canadian librarians that post very nice songs, rhymes and stories for babies and children.

My new stroller Qbit+ and opinion

I think pushchairs are like colours, we can’t say that one is the best or one is awful. Each family has their needs and each one of us has likes and dislikes. And there is a stroller out there that is made for us.

Other people talking to my son in English

I have just made a trip around Belgium. It is the first long trip that we do with our son. Seven days eating at restaurants, driving the car, sleeping in hotels... with a three moth baby! Well, I have to say it has been a great experience full of positive things. The baby has behaved perfectly even during the long hours by car, he was just fantastic. He only had a bad moment in a restaurant. He couldn't stop crying very loud. He didn't want to sleep, he didn't want to eat... who knows what he needed. But other than that, he did very well.

Youtube videos for non-native bilingual parenting

I still need to learn or check vocabulary about babies. This kind of vocab is hardly ever learnt by students of English as a foreign language. There are certain things that I don't know how to say, but most of the things that I look up are words or sentences that I have to check because I am not sure if they are said the way I would used them. I think I want to speak the best I can so my son doesn't learn many mistakes from me.
As I wrote in a previous post I am learning new specific vocabulary to speak to my son using the right words and pronunciation. One of the sources that I am using to do this is Youtube.

Writing the blog both in English and Spanish

So far I have been written this blog in English as I thought that the ones that could be interested in non native bilingual parenting would know this language. It also helps me to express myself better in English and getting immersed in the language that I am using with my son. But today I realized that my family will also want to read how this experience is going on and how my son is learning English. Some of them speak English but others don’t. This is why I have decided to write all the posts in Spanish too.
From now on I will write in both languages although it will take me sometime to translate the old posts into Spanish.

Scratching, swaddling and trimmering

The other day when I looked at my sons face I couldn't believe how he had his face. You could think this happened throughout the day, but it didn't. He did it in seconds! I guess one of his nails was pointed and when he scratched his face he did all that. My poor baby...

First day speaking in English in front of friends

Today has been a very important day. For the first time I have spoken to my son in English while being with other people.
It has been some weeks that  I wanted to meet some friends and I have finally done it. My friends and I have meet to have a coffee and chat a bit. One of them is expecting a baby and the other two have one baby too. Can you guess what did we talk about? Of course! Babies’ clothes, food, toys, gadgets... you always learn new things from your friends.
